Stop on Red Week serves as a reminder of the dangers we face on the roads and the responsibilities drivers have to stop on RED. This week aims to raise awareness of all the fatalities and severe injuries that have occurred due to red-light running.
Some reasons why red-light running may occur include:
- Rushing
- Distraction
- Impaired driving
- Speeding/inability to slow down in time
It doesn’t matter what the reason may be. When a stop light is red, drivers must stop.
Accidents and fatalities also occur when a driver speeds through a yellow light to make it through the intersection before the light turns red. As a friendly reminder, Green means GO, Yellow means SLOW DOWN, and Red means STOP.
When you’re on the road, it’s not only your life at risk, everyone on the road is at risk, so drive smart and safely.
