Hello April! Did you know April is Distracted Driving Awareness Month?!
According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), in 2021 distracted driving killed 3,522 people. Distracted driving has become a deadly epidemic ranging from cellphone use, adjusting the radio or GPS, applying makeup, and eating and drinking. When you’re distracted behind the wheel, you rob yourself of crucial seconds that you may need to avoid a close call or deadly accident.
Some safety tips for safe driving include:
- Pull over and park in a safe location to send texts or to make a phone call or designate a passenger to respond to texts or make phone calls if necessary
- Do not scroll through apps while stopped at lights or while the car is moving
- Adjust the radio and GPS before beginning your journey
- Do not apply cosmetics or mess with your hair while driving
- Refrain from eating while driving
